Flip a coin, or make one of each
Do you want to get up close and personal? Or do you want to stand back and blast things? |

Well it depends on your play style.
Traditionally the warrior plays up close and personal, most tend to absorb more damage than they dish. Although you can technically do both. Still, this class requires you to be versitile, tank or attack and it requires that you be on the front lines. If you're actually going to 'tank' you need to understand how aggro works and how to take and hold it. Although sometimes that's a pain with the updated AI (and with certain hench or people). Traditionally an ele is in the back dishing the damage. Although you can take on a tank role with an earth build, people still tend to prefer warriors for that job (higher armor). If you're more of a backline person, into dishing a lot of damage, then go with an ele. It's a versitile class: spike and blind with air, nuke with fire, tank with earth, equip daggers and annoy the piss out of people. I play both classes personally. Quote:

Hmmm..I'd go for a Elementalist first just because I personally hate getting my hands dirty. Let the Warrior soak up the punishment while you leisurely sit back and nuke crap out the enemy.

It all depends on what you like. Warriors are great for beating the snot out of things, while eles are fun if you like to kill things in the shortest possible time. Both are a part of the holy trinity (warrior-ele-monk) so you should have no problem finding groups. I would say go warrior, but only on the condition that you do not use mending |

I would be tempted of answering both!
But the character-based titles say pick one and play one that one... The best for you would be to try both (It not hard to get to level 20 quite soon) and the focus on the one you liked most. |

Warriors get rather dull to play after a bit, imho, so I would always say go for a caster. Best advice is to try both and see which play style appeals to you more.

I'd also say try both. If you have Factions, it's geared more toward rapid leveling. You could take a character from the monastary up to the marketplace without investing too much time. By then you'd have a good feel for whether you like that style or not. Then switch and try the other profession. Ultimately I'll bet you keep both. I have multiple PvE characters, and enjoy my Warrior, Ranger, Elementalist, and Ritualist the most. You have to play differently with each one and it adds variety and longevity to the game.

I would say warrior personally, they are useful in PvE and PvP. I have never been a fan of elementalists and don't even use them in my groups anymore.

When I started playing my first char was an ele; erased that after 1 month or so and made up a leet head-smasher-warrior. Warrior is so funny, believe me
